Researcher for future buildings and cities

INFORMAL ROBOTICS
Exploration of a new design paradigm: origami style robots from informal materials such as laminated cardboard components, rather than from rigid metal parts. Robots made from these informal materials are light, highly customizable and quick to assemble.

HYBRID FORMATIONS
A sculpture manufactured out of extremely lightweight aluminium panels. Assembled, the custom CNC cut components form and elegant, soft and dynamic volume insipired by the automobile industry.

MAPPED MOBILITY
This research project investigates mobility patterns on different scales and with different visualization methods to gain knowledge and develop design solutions.

GRASSHOPPER SCRIPTS

Weighted 2D and 3D voronoi
Weighted thickness based on use
Circular intensity diagram

CITY ACCELERATOR
What if the city could get us faster from starting point to destination? City Accelerator investigates tools to reduce travel time in the city.

4 MINUTE CITY
Who are the people that use the city? What are their daily routines? What are the types of vehicles that could be used in the city and what are their properties?

RAILWAY STATIONS
Thesis on the historical development of European international railway stations. How did they develop their spatial organisation in order to achieve increased accessibility?

EXPOSITION IABR 2014
Part of my work on passenger movements in Dutch railway stations conducted during my internship at Benthem Crouwel was presented at Kunsthal Rotterdam.

SUSTAINABLE HIGH RISE
Should we focus on heat loss through the building skin? Do we reduce energy use or produce green electricity? How can we reduce the CO2 emission of the building?

ZERO WASTE CITY
One-week workshop on austerity. We developed solutions for a city in which we reduced the amount of waste to 0 cubic meters per person per day.

COPY PASTE
Workshop on whether or not copy pasting buildings and objects in our own projects disrespects the original designer or realizes cheaper or even better designs.

BIOLOGICAL FOOD CITY
What landscape can we imagine? Do we need to change people's diets? What city design enables for food, waste and nutrient cycles?

FOOD CITY RESEARCH
What is needed to provide a city of 1.000.000 inhabitants with all the food it needs? How can we plan closed cycles? What food processes should be provided?
